Songs of Summer

Hello lovelies! I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer whether it's spent lounging around the apartment sipping lemonade or slaving for a boss you despise at your summer internship. I am fortunate enough to have been in England for more than a month or so. The picture above was taken last week when a few friends and I decided to have a little picnic at a Brighton beach. In addition to sightseeing in England, I've also been able to explore Paris, Amsterdam, and Belgium! I would have loved to see Spain, Italy, and Greece, but a girl can't have everything. Anyway, enough about my summer.
This entry is dedicated, as it hints in the title, to the songs that I've enjoyed this summer. Now, these songs do not necessarily deal with summer in context, but they rather songs that I will forever associate with my summer abroad. Enjoy and please comment and share your songs of summer!
01. Daydreaming - All Girl Summer Fun Band
I thought this song would be appropriate not only for the band's name, but because I have been daydreaming a lot this summer. It feels amazing to actually just sit out in a park and have nothing to worry about.
02. Rehab - Amy Winehouse
Now this song may seem like a strange choice as a summer song, but Amy is from the UK and I've been hearing a lot of her here lately and everyone around me seems to be humming this song! Also, I've had two friends burn her CD for me and shipped it out to England. Thanks again you two!
03. Adventure - Bring Your Own Pet
"We are adventuring, we are adventurers" sums up this summer quite nicely.
04. Belleville Rendez-Vous (Version Française Par -M-) - Ben Charest
JC was kind enough to send me the soundtrack to the animated film The Triplets of Belleville and I played it on my way to Paris.
05. Life on Mars - David Bowie
I took a class first session called "Kissin' Cousins" and it isn't what you think. Friends in my summer program would often ask me, "Is that a class about incest?!" It was a class that analyzed the twentieth-century Anglo-American relationship. I enjoyed the class very much when my tutor played excerpts of Beatles footage and especially the music videos of David Bowie.
06. I Feel It All - Feist
Now this song has an extremely sentimental place in my heart this summer. I was lucky enough to catch Feist while she toured in England this summer. This is my favorite song off her latest album, the Reminder, and I was beyond stoked when she played this during her concert! I had just missed her Los Angeles performance in late June because I was already in England, but I'm glad I saw her in Portsmouth because the venue was much more intimate. To top it all off, I got to meet her after the show and she was simply adorable.
07. Homesick - Kings of Convenience
I started this playing this song a lot the last week or so. I found myself suddenly yearning to be back in California.
08. Amsterdam - Peter Bjorn and John
Yes, I went to Amsterdam. This was another album that JC was kind enough to send me.
09. On The Radio - Regina Spektor
Surprisingly I heard this song while on the coach to Amsterdam. The driver had it on some Dutch radio station and this song came on followed by a Feist song! I was overjoyed to hear such great artists being played on the radio. I knew it was a foreshadow to the lovely times I would experience in Amsterdam.
10. Too Strong - The Sea and Cake
Another song I like to listen to when I'm either lying down in a park or a beach.
Hope you have an opportunity to check out this list and please let me know what you think. Also, do not hesitate to contribute your own list of songs of summer! Ciao!
Think Big! loves you,
Samantha
